HOW TO SMUDGE:

Light the thick end of the smudge stick and blow out the fire once it produces smoke. The smoke is what does the clearing. Say a smudging prayer if you wish. Start in one corner of the room and move the smoke up and down. You can use a feather or your hand to move the smoke. Continue to smudge the other corners in the room and once the corners are complete, move to the center and rest of the room. Be sure to also move the smoke around the windowsills and lastly, the doorframe of the room that you're smudging in. Remember to start on the lowest level (basement or ground floor) of your home and work your way up to the top level.

ONCE YOU ARE DONE:

Place the smudge bundle in a fireproof container, and let it burn out on its own. OR You can press the burnt end of the smudge stick into a fireproof container to put it out. You can use a shell, clay pot or even a cast iron cauldron.
